We say

20 year old east London-based artist keaton dekker seriously impressed us when we featured him as one of our Compass artists back at the start of July. We have been keeping close tabs to him ever since, and we are not the only ones with the likes of Paper, the Line of Best Fit, the Independent and Dummy among other all singing his praises. This week, he dropped this gorgeous slab of ‘80s synth-laden bedroom pop, doused in lashing of modern R&B flourishes, from his forthcoming debut EP, the unwelcome series (out September). Written and produced by keaton himself, it has, like all the EP, been mixed by Tim Rowkins (Rina Sawayama) and mastered by Robin Schmit (The 1975). Early blog support has come from DIY Mag, Vanyaland and A1234, plus a feature is confirmed for the next issue of Attitude magazine too. Alongside his music production, keaton is also the co-founder and organiser of VOID – a festival, collective & safe space for POC & LGBTQA+ artists. With echoes of The Weeknd and Lauv, keaton is an artist confident in his abilities to create touching and youthful tales of Gen-Z.
