Happy 4th of July!!!
Hello Friends!
I
know it's been a long time since I've given you an update on my
creative endeavors. At the onset of the new year, I had decided to step
down from my band. Having to leave Mango Dreamers was a very difficult
decision and painful for me especially because of all the time and
effort I had put into it. But it was a wonderful learning experience and
a lot of amazing things came out of it too - I made new friends, I was
inspired, and of course, we made amazing music that we were able to
share with the world. The experience taught me that when something comes
to an end, it doesn't mean that the experience was a waste - far from
it. If you think about the blessings from any experience, you will find
that there is a lot to be thankful for.
So with all the downtime I had these past several months (no rehearsals,
recording sessions or shows), I decided to finish a book I had started a
couple of years ago. It is a fiction novella (less than 100 pages)
about a girl who is a law student by day and a cocktail waitress in a
casino at night. It's a fun story that I hope teen girls will enjoy.
I'm really excited about it! So excited that I'm already working on my
second book!!! :)
As for music, I have just recently started getting back into it. I had
contemplated breaking up with music completely, but like a complicated
relationship, we are somehow back together again. And almost out of
nowhere, I won a scholarship to attend the Kauai Music Festival, which
is an annual conference for songwriters in Hawaii. It was a wonderful
experience where I collaborated with other songwriters and was inspired
every day by the island's natural beauty. I have written several new
songs and plan to record later this year.
So it's been a while since I've seen many of you and my dear friend
Katy and I have decided to throw a casual poolside party on Saturday,
July 25. It will be held at the La Meridien Delfina Hotel in Santa
Monica from 3pm-8pm. It will be a bunch of "young professionals" (young
is subjective) so come and hang out with us! We can only host up to 150
people, so please register on the link below, and feel free to bring
anyone you like!
Have a wonderful weekend!
